Wrap Up: March 2021

Hello everyone! I hope March was a good reading month for you!

I’m a fairly slow reader and any number of books I read in a month would be a win for me. But picking up a goodreads challenge and launching this blog is keeping me accountable to read more. I was genuinely surprised when I saw I read four books in March πŸ˜… I think I could’ve finished another book I started back in February but that time was spent in struggling working on this blog.

A few days late, but here’s all the books I read in March!

science fiction fantasy

πŸ“š The Lady or the Lion by Aamna Qureshi β€” β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜….5

This is definitely a debut people should read. The setting is refreshing and the characters are interesting. I loved the Urdu phrases included. Aamna’s prose and writing is beautiful! Be sure to grab it on June 22nd. Full review to come.

πŸ“š The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He β€” β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

One of my favourite books of this year, as you might already know from my review. I haven’t read a sci-fi/dystopian novel in long and this one was such a delight. I’m so excited for it’s release.

πŸ“š The Unbroken by C.L. Clark β€” β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

What a powerful fantasy! Absolutely loved the elements of war, colonialism and queerness in the story. I personally wasn’t interested in the romance but the f/f relationships were a delight. Read my full review of it here.

contemporary

πŸ“š Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler β€” β˜…β˜…

My first disappointing read of the year. While the book sounds cool from the summary, it unfortunately did not deliver. The characters felt stereotyped and the story plain. A lot more could be done with a concept like that. I appreciated the discussion of identity and sexuality, something that should definitely happen in YA. You can read my thoughts over on goodreads. But that’s just my opinion, maybe other readers will enjoy it!

And that’s the four books I read in March!

I have no idea what or how much I’m gonna read in April because I have exams coming up. But being the procrastinator I am, you will find me reading books instead of studying (might or might not have started reading a book already πŸ™ˆ). And thank you for welcoming me into the blogosphere, more reviews coming your way! πŸ’•

Happy reading to my blogger/reader friends!!
