September TBR: taking part in the theatreathon!

Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve read or written a blog post! But slowly getting back into the reading headspace so hopefully in September you’ll have more reviews from me coming your way!!

I saw this readathon in Semptember organised by teatimelit, called theatreathon and the prompts looked so fun I decided to take part! Might as well push myself to read more right?

So here’s my indefinite September tbr list—I definitely plan to read more and beyond this list but this is a start!

Best Musical
A Classic or a Retelling of a classic

Best Revival of a Musical
A Reread of a Favourite

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

Now that I have an ARC of its sequel, Our Violent Ends, I’m due for a reread of the first book! This took me by surprise last year and I love that it went on to be successful. Can’t wait to go through all those emotions again.

Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical
A Strong Female Character

Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao

Well the cover speaks for itself! AND its a reimagining of China’s only female emperor AND the author said “enforce your last pathetic gender role patriarchy” so yeah.

Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical
A book with more than one POV

Made in Korea by Sarah Suk

Been craving a good contemporary romance lately and I think Made in Korea will entertain me! It sounds exactly like a book with the tropes I’d enjoy so I’m really looking forward to this.

Best Book of a Musical
A Popular book you Haven’t Read

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I see my friends hyping this so it’s been on my tbr for way too long! Plus lately I’ve been seeing a lot of fanart of Evelyn and Celia so colour me intrigued!! I mean how could I resist lesbians?

Best Costume Design of a Musical
A Book with a Gorgeous Cover

When Night Breaks by Janella Angeles

ARE YOU GUYS SEEING THIS BEAUTY?! Where Dreams Descend left me dazzled, I can’t wait to read this sequel and venture into the world again.

Best Choreography
A book about Performing Arts

It All Comes Back To You by Farah Naz Rishi

Desi rom-coms are a must read for me. This already sounds like a fun read and Kiran is an Indian classical + Bollywood dancer so I’m sure I’m in for a treat.

And that’s it! I don’t know how successful this will be because I NEVER plan monthly tbrs and just go with the flow. Besides, I have some other ARCs to pay attention to ;-; But hopefully I’ll cross these out from my list! Hope you have a lovely September 🤍

Mid Year Freak Out Tag

Hello, hope my fellow readers are doing well!! Can’t believe it’s July already which means I’ve been blogging for 3 months now. That’s wild but I’ve been having so much fun interacting with blogger friends and pushing myself to finish my reading goal! I didn’t have a review planned so decided on doing a fun post instead. My first book tag post!
